Internship – Trainee Service Technician

NovaMarine, a division of the Sturrock Grindrod Maritime Group, has an exciting opportunity available for a suitable candidate to join an Internship program in the technical field.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist in the servicing of technical equipment and services
- Assist with administration and record keeping, relating to the servicing of equipment
- Ensure that all health and safety rules and regulations are adhered to
- Maintain a clean and tidy workshop
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Minimum N3 Mechanical / Electrical / technical related qualification, N4 preferred
- Alternatively, Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics as a subject, and an enthusiasm for technical concepts and a hands-on approach
Experience
- Prior experience in a technical role would be advantageous
Skills, competencies and attributes
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings is advantageous
- Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office
- Valid Driver’s Licence is preferrable
- Clear criminal record and able to apply for passport if necessary
- Be physically fit and able to work in harsh conditions
- The ability to interact with customers and employees
- Make and action decisions in an effective manner
- Well organised, sober habits and high attention to detail
